While many people understand that agriculture and forestry enterprises will be impacted by climate change, fewer people understand that biological systems can actually capture and store carbon through management practices. In fact, agriculture, reforestation and avoiding deforestation can potentially mitigate 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
On March 3, the Energy Future Coalition hosted a meeting on Terrestrial Carbon. The following presentations outline the opportunities of this overlooked resource.
How to Include Terrestrial Carbon in the Overall Climate Solution
By Ralph Ashton, The Terrestrial Carbon Group
Agriculture and GHG Mitigation: How Can Science Support Policy?
By Keith Paustian, Colorado State University
Regenerative 21st Century Farming: A Solution to Global Warming
By Tim LaSalle, The Rodale Institute
Biochar: Climate Change and Soils
By Debbie Reed, International Biochar Initiative
